how do i flatten this properly? my images are dropping out... driving me mad

hmm.. in your export dialog.. under advanced, what is your Transparency Flattener preset to?

its set to medium resolution - im also using acrobat 4 (in the top right)

Are your images RGB?
Try resaving them in pshop.
Also, try replacing the images in new boxes. Paths can get caught inside boxes in InDesign, for example if you had a placed eps with a clipping path, deleted the image, the path can remain. This can screw up any further images placed in that box.All I can think of. Good luck : (

What file type is the images?
- Raniator0
TIFFs sometimes mess up in InDesign. Try saving as JPG.
