I have a 720x220 GIF that is 2.9MB. What the best way to size this down. looking to use it for a header. on a web pg.
My only other option is flash but dont want to re-build. :P
please save my day.

your only chances are to drop/simplify some of the movement or drop the colors.
fireworks might give you better compression options when saving, but it's likely that it's just the number of pixels yours has. that's a rather large animated gif

how could it be that big? rethink animation maybe with AS?

In addition to number of colors, there's other settings in the Optimization pallette... Choosing different dithering settings and the presets for Adaptive, Web, Selective, etc, can give very different file sizes.

you will need to redo as flash or heavily simplify your animation, detail, gradients, amount of colours - but main issue will be number of frames - always do in flash with v.simple gif alternative.
