FLVs problems

Started another thread on this, but I need a fresh take.
Have a 640x480 mov, captured from Beta. Client needs a few sizes/formats, including an FLV at 491x368.
491-368 - weird size. You're forcing an extra pixel onto the aspect ratio, right?
So no matter what I do in FCP, AE, FLV encoder, whatever...encoding to an FLV automatically resizes to 490x368. Forcing it completely distorts the video.
My thought is this: Encoding to an FLV cannot handle such an odd screen aspect ratio, and will compensate, or distort if forced. Just the way it is.
Am I right in thinking that, or am I missing another solution?

Have you tried Sorenson Squeeze? Send it to me and I'll give it a try for you, if you like. Just gimmie the compression specs as well.

I have seen this in wmv, but never in flv...
- try to output as mov from ae and then encode the flv in flash videoencoder maybeuan
- Did that.

will Sorenson Squeeze create an FLV?
I have no problem creating the desired size in other formats, it seems the issue is unique to Flash encoding.

I tried a test with a 491x368 mov to flv and it works ok...I cropped a bigger video in ae and output it to mov and converted it to flv, then imported it into a flvPlayback thingy to view, no distortion or lost pixel

That's odd, uan, that's exactly what I did as well.
Have you brought the FLV into flash to doublecheck that the size is still 491x368? When I did that, the encoder automatically resizes it to 490.

And thanks, era. I will ping you if I need some extra help. All the originals are over 1gb so I'd need to get a smaller version to you obviously.

Export out of AE at desired size, import into Flash to create FLV (or use AE), done.
If you're using Flash to create the FLV, in the 'Crop and Resize' tab, make sure you have the "Resize Video" check box unchecked.

Yes, uan, you are correct. That does work. Ok, gonna start over, thanks folks.
