you must also make sure to open ports 5900-5901 on your router as well as screen, printer and file sharing on the host machine. Then from the other machine launch screen sharing, use your domain as the location, it will then let you log into the host machine just like you are on the local network.

you must install and run this .app on your host machine. It points your current ip address to your domain. You set up a free domain at dyndns.com

"back to my mac" is a MobileMe service. Seems to work well if both machines are able to be configured to be seen through a router/firewall.
Apple Remote Desktop is the other option which also costs money and also needs to be configured to be seen through a router/firewall.
