I'm trying to style a shopping cart which uses bold tags... is it possible to alter them

what does the code look like?

source code?
The tags are <strong> rather than <strong> now.

sure in css you can reset and restyle any tag
b {
}

<strong>

Remove all the <strong> tags then.

b {
font-weight:normal;
}

cos you need this:
.parent-element b { font-weight:normal; }

Nevermind, I think I'm misunderstanding you. You only have access to the CSS, basically.

<strong> is for strong emphasis in a text - nothing else.
Your shopping cart (probably) doesn't hold that semantic value, so use something neutral like <div> or <span>.

also note that more specific selectors take precedence over more general ones, so if there's an ID or something that's being targeted, it may be overriding a more general selector
