Whatever he does now will always be hyped beyond belief.
I'm old enough to remember T2 coming out and even for those simpler, less hype-filled days, the film still got tons of hype... but lived up to it.
Saying that, he hadn't made Titanic at that point. And maybe we've been soured by George Lucas and his recent pre/sequels...

I haven't heard much of it either outside qbn, but others have and are talking about it. There was even a 10 countdown for the teaser trailer on apple.com/trailers which the countdown is almost over in 16 hours.
my prediction = suck - I mean it is dangerous to do so much hype b/c it never lives up to the hype and er go it sucks

it'll disappoint some most def, but this is cameron. from what i've read about the premise it's going to be very deep insofar as when you get up and walk away you'll be mulling over the concepts and social 'humankind' questions for some time. it sounds like the kind of sci-fi solaris (which i loved) was but with action.

some ticket sellers sites collapsed due to presales so there is hype outside of qbn. you'd probably need to live near a suburban mall in middle america to hear most of it though.

James Cameron seems to care about story, script, and character, so I am hopeful. And hopeful that he doesn't let himself get carried away with the technology of it all.

I'd say its going to be awesome. The guy has an eye for it. Pushed the bar with almost every movie he did: Terminator, Aliens, Abyss, T2, Titanic. Even True Lies was fun.

From what I've read so far, I get the feeling that an awful lot of the unhinged/crazy film fanatics will walk away disappointed. You can't hype a film this much and hope it satisfies everyone.
I personally can't wait for the film, regardless of Cameron's pedigree, I like the premise and potential scope for the film. We'll just have to wait and see whether it will change cinema forever, or *merely* be a great film.

You may have seen this, for which i apologize in advance, but this movie-still looks interesting. Then again, a still from Mission to Mars looked interesting and that made me want to load a shotgun and direct it to my eyeballs.
