I've never been there - trying to open my mind to applying to a job there. But I'm having reservations about it being such a big city (I'm a small town girl) but I know people that have lived there and love it...
any opinions? thoughts?

It's great. I lived there for almost 9 years and I loved it. Rent is expensive but if you live outside of SF (or outer SF) its not as bad. You can take BART (subway/train system) around. In town you can take MUNI trains and buses.
- Its one of the only cities that doesn't seem overwhelming. I'm originally from a small town and found it to be a good mix of city and nature.Palindrome

amazing. best city in U.S. move. now.
also, its a lot smaller than some of the big cities - so for a small town girl it is more friendly & will be easy to adapt.
a few hours north and your snowboarding in tahoe, a few hours south your relaxing on the beach in santa barbara. i HIGHLY recommend the city...i want to move back.

The big problem with San Francisco is that every person there thinks they are absolutely wonderful.
- If you like to listen to people talk about themselves, Arthur Kade-like, it's a great place.boobs
- Yep but you have to get past all the hipsters
Palindrome - i think hipsters are funnymegE
- Fucking A they do!!!
And Its even worse in the design / agency scene than elsewhere.powertoni

The two consistent things I'm hearing are expensive and people love themselves lol - thanks for the opinions!

Looks like a dope city. Been to other parts of Cali that I liked, but never SF. The thing that I think would annoy me the most (any maybe you megE) is all the people. If you can get past that and the expense of living, I think you'd be good.

megE, all the diff. neighborhoods make it feel pretty small. Just find a fun place to live and you'll love it. Especially if you're into art and design.

It's my favorite city i've ever been to. I lived in the east bay area, but am now in San Diego. If i knew I could find a good paying job i would probably move up there. Rent is really expensive. Are you part hippie? You will fit in pretty easy if you are. I'm half hippie, so it works well.

What ever happened to predictability?
The milkman, the paperboy, evening TV.

I think it's the most perfect city in the country. I great urban environment, great food, and minutes away from nature. That's what I judge a good city on.

I need the closeness to nature, thanks mg33
capn - I would say semi hippie, I appreciate the hippiness things in life, Boulder was a fun place to live when I was there :) but I like shaving my legs and smelling normal
uto - not so much into drugs that stiff, but I'll keep it in mind if/once I get the job
