yeah, that campaign is here is san diego too. It's like they want you to be comfortable while they rape you.

Don't borrow money you can't afford to pay. Simple as that.

they have the worst 'insider bank' campaign going here in the bay area. "hey sf, we're new here but we're old as the hills too. consider us chums, won't ya? you like mountain biking, right? gosh it's foggy. it's like we've been here forever we're that familiar with your lifestyle. i guess we have really been here for awhile since we bought out wa mu. anyway. we're new here but you can trust us for sure."

My AMEX wrote me a letter saying that they would increase my rate because "times are tough for everyone" and I been such a good customer. The upside they told me, is that they wont cancel my card.

i hear you. I am working on being debt free as well. It gets tough sometimes with random things that come up whether it be something with the vehicle, a new washing machine or even something medical. I guess it is just time to manage that shit accordingly and get rid of the credit cards.

I had a Discover card for over almost 20 years and always paying on time and paying it off completely every few years.
Last year I noticed my APR was jacked up to over 20 percent. I called them and asked what happened to my single digit APR and they said a letter went out telling people they could dispute the increase by writing a letter or it would be automatically raised.
God only knows how many months I paid that before I noticed.
I wrote them to reduce it and they came back by lowering by 1 or 2 %.
Fuck that I told them and transferred the balance and now I'm trying to get completely debt free.

If you're talking about the same one that we have, then call them and make them explain the options you have. There was a letter that went out (wonderfully vague letter, that is) explaining your options. Basically you can disagree with it, and then they'll cancel your card when the balance is paid or expires. But be careful, you don't want THEM canceling you, that screws your credit.
Our balance is low enough that we're paying the rest off in 1k chunks over the next few months, and then to hell with them.- i've read about this. I am thinking about calling back and asking. Seems others have had this option as well.capn_ron

I didn't know our qbn was so full of financial geniuses. I haven't used my credit card in almost two years, i am merely paying off my prior stupidity. I know , credit card companies are the worst, but this takes it over the top.

They banks are going to do this until Jan 2010, then new regulations are going to kick in. So they are raping everybody while they can.

shitty. I still don't get why so many people buy on credit when shit like this happens all the time.
