i guess I don't mind it so much but it has totally destroyed the drum and bass scene here in st louis. and I love drum and bass so therefore I hate dubstep.

Funny how the "dubstep killed drumnbass" argument seems to always pop up. Seattle dnb scene was pretty dead (low turnout) when we (Shift) started doing nights and packing clubs. A lot of the guys I know that play or produce these days are ex-dnb heads too but still have all kinds of love for the sound.

Didn't realize you were in Seattle egosmoke. I have been to the Shift night a couple times - good stuff - although I always seem to find out after the fact when you guys book someone I really want to see;)
- No longer in Seattle but I've been a part of Shift since the beginning. N-type show was epic.egosmoke

same situation here. all of the dnb djs except me and one or two other holdouts now play more dubstep than dnb. to me it just sounds like the lite beer version of dnb.

Maybe it's because dnb stopped being innovative. What was the last dnb track or album you heard where they did something new?
- MikeColdFusion0
dnb started to suck when everyone made the transition from hardware studios to software. it used to take years of investing in gear to make good stuff so you really had to have musical talent and a strong desire to make it. once everyone started using software dnb was taken over by a bunch of hyperactive kids on the internet with a bunch of pirated software and the same samples everyone else was using. that being said there are still innovative producers in drum and bass. quarantine has always been a top notch label, guys like break, d-bridge, and fierce. commix new fabric mix album is a great example of the best of the new stuff coming out these days.

the future of dance music! love it! there is too little of it going on in nyc also.
been grooving heavily to the new Blasta and Silkie albums lately, a little more spacey and less heavy grime/bass. interplanetary vibes.

Good stuff from both of you (Sub & Ego). Consider yourselves bookmarked.

Best set I've ever heard.
6Blocc on GrimeWaveFM, WestAdd Radio.
Enjoy.

loving Boxcutter at the moment. Not too deep/hard. Any suggestions for similar artists.

@egosmoke just listened to all the tunes on your page while i'm sitting here working.
love the flow and minimalism of em all. keeps that dark / brooding feeling. really well mixed also.
did you get any of them mastered, or is that all you?
- thank you! I don't consider myself much of an engineer, but those are all mixed by me. cheersegosmoke

Basically, yeah. Imagine UB40 produced by Paul Oakenfold.

I've given it a fair chance.
Drum 'n' bass remains the favorite though.
