Janne I just got laid off...I'm 100% sick of work.
I will be riding my bicycle to Argentina from NYC. It won't cost much and when I return I will be in great shape and have a clear mind. You are invited.

Hey, I know what you mean about the loss of motivation... That's generally a symptom of existing within a shitty culture.
Though I can't really speak experientially, for modern Dutch culture, I can certainly do so for modern American culture:
it's shit.Shitty culture generally causes mild to intense apathy (based on what I understand)
solutions:
you probably have to create your own solution, as each individual case is unique.- I hope this is more helpful ;-)styleplus_amillion

I have an idea that might actually help you get back to design and actually appreciate the work (while keeping your quality of life)....
Get one or two clients on retainer (say around 1k USD per month), move to a cheap country near the beach (like thailand, brazil, Dominican Republic, Maldives, etc). Rent a cheap apartment (you can rent a condo on the beach in DR for 300 dollars a month these days).
You'll be happy walking on the beach everyday, working from a beach cabana on WiFi while zipping on coconut mojitos. I did it for a couple of months to reclaim my creative soul. Works wonders.
Peace...

There is no sea salt for sale here. Even though this is an island surrounded by super salty seas. You can move here and we can start a sea salt selling business. You can even design the packaging if you'd like.

GTFO of the office. I'm wrapping up a year of freelancing from the beach after being in a similar spot of apathy... Highly recommended. Puts a whole new perspective on things while the batteries are charging. Probably won't go back tho...
