Hi guys,
I've got a job where I'll need to create a new identity for a Viking visitor centre. The clients after a type treatment on the logo that better reflects the viking period as against straight typed copy.
Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any decent reference? I've already gleaned Google for all its worth.
Thanks in advance guys.

I guess you're looking for a rune-type font then? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run…

are you looking for influences from a certain country? Norway / Sweden?
- my guess would be Norway: http://en.wikipedia.…neverblink

I assume you have visited the centre. If not there lies your inspiration. We have a pretty extensive collection in Ireland too. For me the viking shield is very iconic. Starting point maybe? http://www.museum.ie/en/exhibiti…

a viking retirement home? wtf is this thread about?

don't listen to client. a viking period font would be horrible. use something contemporary and subtly suggest viking in other ways.
was a nice viking logo in public choice a couple days ago.
