I am looking for one. I probably need 500gb's or a terabyte. Trying to find a decent deal...
And when they are listed as 500gb's does that mean EACH hard drive has 500gb's or just one of them?

RAID for what? Are you looking for a NAS type backup solution with RAID?

If this is the case you would want a RAID5 setup....so storage wise you can minus one disk.
So if you have 3 - 500GB drives running RAID5, your actual storage will be 1GB.

I am a bit confused. I just want all my information to back up on 2 drives automatically.

^Are you looking at Network Attached Storage devices? Or are you talking about setting up a RAID configuration in your computer?
- or just an external drive with RAID, like this?

I am hoping to get one hard drive unit - which automatically backs up on 2 separate drives..
This is just for my computer, no one elses, don't need to share or anything.

Ahh, I see. Check here:
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubC…
Newegg has the best deals of anywhere online. I don't have a specific model to recommend but if you find something from the link, post it here and I'll check it out for you.
- This one seems solid (I use a LACIE here at work and like it)

A bit expensive though.designbot

How about this guy:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr…It does not say RAID.. is it something I can setup?

Looks like a solid choice. Yes, you can setup RAID (0 or 1) as well. The 2TB storage is huge as well (always good to get more than you think you need imho)
I found some reviews on it as well:
http://www.testseek.com/computer…All these reviews look good too, I say buy it!

whoah.....I think I need to say "as well" a few more times :)
I'm off to a meeting.
