Try a Cup of Excellence coffee, they aren't all expensive.

Don't sweat the preparation either I recently went back to paper filter and it is a fine way to brew.

http://www.terroircoffee.com/Jamaican Blue Mtn is overrated+overpriced due to Japan buying the majority of lots for the 'luxury' market.
Kona is great if you can get pure Kona but the farmers are petitioning for a minimum 75% contenet in blends sold as Kona coffee:

Don't worry about fairtrade, if Nescafe/Starbucks et al didn't insist on driving down the price of commodity coffee fairtrade wouldn't be necessary. Any of the roasters above will be paying very fairly and well above the fairtrade rate for quality beans and preparation.

For anyone else in the UK give HasBean a try - the owner was and still is a pioneer of speciality coffee in the UK so I have no shame in plugging him here - beans roast to order and shipped the same day you will not find better coffee in the UK except from one or two other speciality roasters:

this place is ridiculous (if youre in San Francisco, Mission district.) Their coffee with their own proprietary cream, and a sprig of mint to top it off.... now its not cheap, its about 7 bucks for the medium. Actually this is a beverage.. beyond just coffee.
