listen, i'm not going to fly anymore!
Everyweek i read that another plane crashed with 150-200 people.

toepolev,
quality planes.

So when are you planning to fly in an old russian Tupolev plane in Iran? The don't get parts for their real aircrafts made in the US and A cause of sanctions, so they use old bad planes in need of more service. Not particular strange that it crashes one plane once in a while.
- I don#t really get why media even report this? I mean, these planes are not even allowed to fly in Europe or american airspace cause they are so shit.modernstyle
- because iranians are people too? just thinking out loud here..janne76
- Of course they are?! But media use to have a certain way to report some things, and ignore others if you haven't noticed?modernstyle
- i haven't noticed what's been ignored, i live in a tent.janne76

anyway, world press says, that worse planes are Air France.
- airey0
hey modernstyle, that 'i don't know why they report this' was a joke yeah? i'm praying you're not one of those clueless north american's that suffer the ignorance of the world beyond their borders. you know, the ones that think central america means kansas.

Hello Airey. I am half Russian but still aware of the sanctions to Iran and the shit quality of old planes, and still very sceptic to the report by media of all the crashes yes. Anything else?

Medias like repetition. After 3 event of the same nature, they start searching for more and more of the same. It sell well.

Plane crashes have always been news modernstyle, no matter where they happen. Personally I don't know why they bother reporting on celebrity remembrance services these days. No that's not news.

my friend, who is a pilot told me that 95% plane crashes are because of pilot mistakes.
- no matter, tupolev or boeing thensenseg
- yeah probably, except for when the planes don't get service after our standards...modernstyle
- of course Tupolev also is quality, problem is that they are old and shouldn't be flying stillmodernstyle
- so the Air France crash was in the 5% ?benfal99
- I'm a private pilot....I'm sure the % is high...I doubt it's 95%...sounds like he pulled that # out his ass.marychain
- Actually it is the plane makers who try to say that most plane crashes are due to pilot error.comicsans

to start with when 168 people die in a country that you might have noticed is a media hotspot, the world needs to be aware. the deaths of locals generally antagonise the mood a tad. the plane originated from tehran so who know who was on it, gee there may even have been some half russian nationals on board (who knows, maybe they were considering a vodka importing business). it's world news when the full plane load fall out of the sky, usually a few live. also, caspian airlines run loads of people to many places, turkey, UAE, etc so therefore connect a currently important place to a few other important place. making it 'news'.
and what's to be a sceptic about? plane crashes? seriously?!? why, you think there's an agenda of pro-bus travel that are forcing the media to represent air travel in a bad light so bus stocks go up?!? fox mulder will be in touch, now please, enjoy your haircut.

i read somewhere that Air France has crashes like 1,4 of every million flights. when ussualy its just 0,40 crashes on the one million of flights. so almost 3 times more crashes.
- senseg0
airey, not funny
it was on the big newspage

Tupolev are very robust and well engineered planes. The problem is the models in service on Iran are too old.
On 2000, Wife and me take off and landed on La Habana, from Cancun, with 2 of the 3 engines on our Cubana´s Tu-154, with passengers feeling anything...

@airey I'm not talking propaganda, but to report plane crashes world wide in the same way just make people afraid of flying apparently. You have to take consider to type, aircrafts, country and so on. Are you not aware of the different standards of fly safety across the world, and belive it or not, some plane crashes are not hotspots for all media. For example all of the blacklisted companies don't get the same attention in the media everytime a plane crashes . Just like an earthquake in China don't get reported here as much as one in Italy obviously. And you must see a difference between a 5 year old Boeing and a 30 year old Teopolev place? Or else tell me you're joking :S

Has Iran blamed Israel yet?

Only in 2009 can people argue why a plane crashed and how it should be covered by the media.
Way to go!

*puts on tin foil hat
I propose that Iran put a whole bunch of arrested dissident demonstrators on the plane and then crashed it on purpose, eliminating political enemies and attempting to get a sympathetic story into the global press.

- hmm would be much easier to hang them as they usually do...modernstyle
