I disagree. Though it is diverse, when us idiotic white westerners think africa, we ALL think zulu warrior in animal skins and.. well.. "african" colors and typefaces.
egypt etc, is not what we think of as africa at all. It's egypt .. papyrus font and heiroglyphics and all that. If you try overanalyze these things the general public will get confused. (..and more inportantly, so will art directors and project managers)

when I think of africa i think how it is very, very diverse. you need to be more specific fues.

This is a huge visual stereotype. Basically generalizing an entire continent by assigning it an "ethnic" typeface. What about egypt? or the sahara? Are those areas "ethic". I think taking a look at Schraivogel's cinemafrica posters. They represent the theme while at the same time stay a safe distance away from any outright stereotypes.
