There was a link posted somewhere in here to a site that allows you to pick all the criteria for a digital camera and it suggested a bunch based on your selections. Anybody remember what site it was?
I've used teh googles. Cannae find 'er.

I'm not sure if that was it or not, but good job.
Will check out the buyers' guide.
Thanks.

Yeah that link did the job.
I haven;t looked into the compact market much, but I may be travelling to the states soon and wanted a compact with aperture priority, but don't know much about compacts.
Got some good suggestions already.

I recommend the canons as you can use chdk to get a little extra out of the camera.

any range Lumix would be awesome.

i second the g10. a mate has one and it performs really well. it has a nice flash too - unlike most compact built in flashes - you can stop it down so it's nice and subtle. and RAW - cmon. no brainer!
highly recommend.

IMO the Canon Ixus range are hard to beat.

Canon's G10 or the SX10IS won't do you wrong for being nearest to dSLR with highest image quality in a small sensor.
- I shot all these using both the S2IS & the S5IS: http://www.flickr.co…jaylarson

2 things are most important. one, make sure that it is in fact compact. two, and i think you'll know where i'm going here, but just in case you're a little confused with all this crazy information that's now buffeting through the ol' brain box, make sure it's digital. i can't stress this last point enough. the amount of times i've seen this rookie mistake made would surprise even you. well, maybe not you but certainly the average punter.

Never buy a Sony Cybershot if you want to use it at night. Amazing colurful and vivid daytime pics, but rubbish grainy shots on all settings at night.

yeah sony have never been any good with low level light. they are getting better though which almost makes the inflated price tag worthwhile. almost.
