I am tasked with finding out how much it would cost for a firm (product manager, developer, maybe a designer) come and consult a fortune 500 company on creating a global platform for collaboration...whatever it might be?
Not developing anything - just working through feasibility, needs, requirements etc.
I'm thinking it would be a 6 week consultation at 30k

Probably not a 40 hr/ week effort - but you can get a reasonable ballpark figure this way

30k for 6wk.
is $5000 per week
or $1000 per day
or $125 per hour (based on 8 hr a day)

I'm figuring everyone would be charging their consulting rates so designer 100/hr
developer 100 - 150/hr
manager COO CCO 200/hrdoes this seem right, again no work is being produced, but at the end of the process we would be looking at producing
service use specification , requirements design functionality sheet, behavior design sheets, maybe mockupsbut really just producing a plan for what a solution would be, what are the options (although limited), paths for completion etc.

thanks ukit akrodesign and Machue
a lot of similar ideas ... anyone ele care to weight in?Yea machuse i think you hit it on the head, what would a traditional agency charge for these services? and what basic factors would constitute x price. I know singular designers that charge 200/hr$ , that would mean a firm would charge 500(ballpark) based on resources needed?

Value-minus, not cost-plus pricing.... i.e. what's it worth to them, and compare your price/value to high-end brand consultancy, not just an hourly rate... it helps if you have a business partner who's a great meeting-powerpoint-wow-them person too, the reality distortion field can be very important here...
