Hey chaps. I'm looking at getting a home printer in the price range of about $300-$500 AUD....
Is laser the way to go?

depends what you are printing.. (a good) inkjet usually better for photos, laser cheaper for lots of printing...

but really I'd start here:

It's for printing web mockups, IA diagrams, flow charts, word docs, anything but photos :)

colour obviously.

I picked this one up for the home office since it was one of the few multi-functions that printed 11x17.

Laser.
Print outs are of good quality (although not the best if you plan printing photos on your glossy kodak paper) and your bank account will thank you in the long run.
