How do I do this in AS2 without, requesting the same image from the server and relying on it being cached? i.e load it once and distribute it to multiple movieClips

grr... if i want to chop a square of the image loaded... how do i do that? e.g. from co-ords 50,50 to 500,400 ? so a 450x350 image? Is there a way of doing that, can make out which command is for that?

load the image
convert it to bitmapData
copyPixels into new empty bitmapData
voila.

hmm... that doesn't load in dynamically though... officially driving me nuts now... think i've looked at it too long and changed things and lost my way home!

So why all the time invested in AS2 when you could be mastering this in 3?
