remote wipe, that's pretty buck wild.
- blackberry had this before, it's a common corporate requirementernexbcn
- Let the games begin with you and your friends to see who can be the biggest asshole!flavorful
- The phone actually wipes if the wrong passcode is put in 10 or so times rite? I lost my phone and it wiped everything.flavorful
- One of the tits up part about losing and then getting my phone back last August.flavorful
- digdre0
If your phone really is lost or stolen, you can send it a remote wipe command that will delete all of your data (mail, contacts, etc). If you do find the phone, it will be restored from a backup.

Erase ALL your data? Doesn't sound like a good thing to me. Whenever I find someone left there cellphone, I've called the most promising contacts to let them know and get it back. I've done this about three times, just myself... perhaps better to delete "media" (pics, movies, etc).
- Yea. I remember one time someone found me passed out in a stairwell - they used my phone to call the most recent ones.flavorful
- Allows you to have more control over what happens though.juhls
- ones ... my friends came down from a few houses to pick me up, haha.flavorful
- or better yet, stop taking pictures of your "conquests" with your fucking phone7point34
- I don't remember, I remember the story being told to me.flavorful
- Uh?flavorful
- you can get it backmonospaced
- I think it's more for if you are looking for it, because you have to be conscious to erase the data.juhls
- http://www.blogcdn.c…juhls
- @mono: yeah, but say someone found it (not stole it), they have no way of contacting youismith
- I think you need MobileMe to do all this stuff.juhls
- ismith, it's more for security purposes. Some people don't want any of that data to be seen by others. If it's that sensitive, juhls
- sensitive, they may have a backup somewhere else anyway.juhls
- That's a good point though. You have to use your own discretion to determine when and if you are going to erase itjuhls
- I think it should leave your own personal vcard. Just an email address/home phone, something.ismith
- Maybe a big "PLEASE RETURN TO" message locked into the screen.ismith

Remote wipe is good. Apple or a company should create a service for bricking the iPhone unless is reactivated. I wish they had remote brick so that if a someone steal/loses their iphone, the thief/person who lost iphone needs an activation code from Apple or the company in order to reuse the phone. The activation code checks whether the phone is stolen or not by serial number or mac address.
- that sort of thing would be broken like the OS was, remote wipe is good enough thoernexbcn
