Working on a new logo for a sub-brand of one of our clients...Boss comes in to critique the logo. I used Archer Book for the main company name. He says, "Why don't you use something softer. How about Futura?"
Um, because we use Futura for every single client and client project?

what you got against futura? is it because it's german?
what did the germans ever do to anybody?

Futura? Soft? Never really thought of futura as soft......
I know what you mean though. my boss insists on everything being univers – which is a great face, don't get me wrong, but... you get tired of it after 30 IDs and 40 campaigns

Use Futura, but just butcher the shit out of it, that way you can argue against it.
- oh yah, that makes sense, especially if he wants to make a good impression at workmonospaced

ask him if he thinks futura is the typeface that most closely represents the personality of this company.
- and set the name in other faces that you think are better. tell him briefly why you think so.baseline_shift

Not sure how anyone could say Futura is 'softer' than Archer. Boggles the mind! Are you sure your boss has working eyeballs?
