If I want to walk forward in a game will I have to march on the spot like some complete spazmoloid?
- 5timuli0
What if they did this with movies? Made you stand up for three hours straight?

Here's an excellent vid that really shows off Natal's potential! People standing up, looking like they're doing stuff! No video of the actual screen or whether what they're doing is really working! WOW!
I don't like the future of gaming if it means I have to stand up for hours at a time.
- why do you think the walls are all white?digdre
- A lot better than sitting on a couch all day.CygnusZero4
- That video is more of an interview than showing how it works. We already know how it works. Killer stuff.CygnusZero4

So where are these supposed videos of 'normal' people interacting with Milo? All I can find is the staged demo.

there arent even text-based bots which can lead a conversation like that, not to mention bots with speech recognition

Some great vids out there of random people using this at E3. Looks killer.

Looks very interesting.

looks amazing. what i don't get is how you would switch gears or accelerate in racing games? it would detect your foot action? i would try it for the soccer. :P

It's not a glorified EyeToy, this thing translates your body shape to an actual 3D model with bones and joints, but as I said before, not all games are going to be fun using this, but some will and new innovative ways of gaming around this idea.

Hilarious how different 99% of the responses here would be were it made by Apple.

it's at least squeezed to fool the audience: he doesn't look at her. he is talking towards the left side of the camera to create the illusion of facing the woman just for this video - so it has been put together. on the other hand, changing just the view-direction should not be a problem, so it still can work for realz.

untill this works like they are showing it.... let's say 2016 orso

i don't understand everyone's attitudes in here, why do only developers get to see the potential? we are designers, we should be jumping on this stuff and doing interesting things!
designers aren't mere consumers, we think up the cool stuff!

It's Bullshit nothing more nothing less.

here's an unfortunate article title! http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/…

what can designers do with this? I can't think of any serious examples.
Explore a commercial? Do that shopping shit? Try out different hairstyles? Go shopping in a mall? Go to a museum? Use Google Street View in it?
It might be a nice interface improvement, but it's still a small improvement after the Wii.
- i don't know, design a game??vespa
- you have some lovely work man, it's people like you should be teaming up with developers and making cool stuff with this technologyvespa
- ...technologyvespa
- people like me should get a girlfriendPupsipu
- Examples? What sort of things? We're not all game designers.5timuli
- think up your own proposals 5timuli! i aint giving away my ideas for freevespa

Just for the record, I'm not an "ignorant naysayer". I know this is being given closed-door demonstrations and that the technology probably does work, and well, but the demo video was a very poor way to show this. They managed to make their whole demonstration FEEL fake. Poor female actress, annoying character to interact with.
And really, it's not THAT ground-breaking. Until they develop this technology for use in real-world situations (the kind of situations where the majority of people on QBN would get excited) then it's just a crappy actress showing orange pen marks to a digital brat through a souped-up PS Eye.

I think this is great - it's innovative, in the same way that that the wii controler was... BUT - I unless the developer toolkits are really fcking great, I bet a lot of the titles actually produced for it will be a nightmare.
