yeah but i just dont know how to generate blobs properly - i guess id like that more than the stripey texture crap - cause thats just a shader! :D
if anyone knows how to do this lava lamp like blobs do let me know :D
- Machuse0
what software?
- gung_hoek0
looks like a simple planar texture to me.
- gentleman0
i imagine its Cinema4D
- creez0
make shape then apply parametrical projection/texture (not uv)
- creez0
the shape should be done with something like subdivision surfaces
- demafleez0
the answer lies with sub polygon displacement. in your texture, turn on displacement. add noise.

don't aim for how to make the bg, figure out how to make that tri knot. everything will be okay after that
- ukit0
Just draw it in Photoshop.

i think he wants to know how to make the actual blobs that have a stripe texture...in that case just make a sphere and warp it and mess with the nodes etc. probably need surface smoover ting too...lavalamp blobs yo, those are easy

demafleez, so is 3d your thing? does cinema 4d make an .stl file?
- demafleez0
yeah 3d is in the bag o tricks for sure, among other pixel pushing apps.
yes, c4d can export and import .stl files, but to be honest, i have no idea what all that is.
- version30
i do. what kind of modeling are you into, done in character or product design for yourself?
- demafleez0
i use 3d primarily for motion graphics and visual effects. i've done some character animation and about zero product design.
3d is way deep and i feel like it will be constant learning and exploring...
do you do much with it?
- version30
i used to use old programs for fun like ifini d then moved onto lightwave but web devolopment slowed that years ago, recently picked up blender and am partering with a prototyping company so i have iron cad 9 at the moment, no character, mostly product/architecture

C4D.
make a primitive.
make it editable.
put it into a hypernurb.
stretch out points planes.
add the texture.

Blender is about the best free app right?
I make levels in Valve's Hammer but struggle in Blender to do anything.
