  I have no idea what the fuck your problem is...

  Is the message you get "can't finish previewing..."

  and what does "not dealing with anything too crazy" mean? what OS are you using, version of illustrator? etc etc etc DETAILS MAN! WE WANT DETAILS! not some vague info for us to try to decipher.
  Also WHAT SIZE FILES YOU WORKING WITH?!?! HEAvy with imagery? sounds like it.
