Hi all,
I have a site that I wish to place video on, I shouldn't imagine there will be too many at once viewing the video clips, but i want a secure, fast platform for playback, should I setup a separate server for video, whats streaming and do I need it?
I am based in the UK, can anyone recommend?
Thanks

I like the look of vimeo, particularly the plus account, doesn't say how much bandwidth you get, just disk space, anyone know?

- it says 25,000 plays for embedded plays.

real "streaming" is a protocol, RTSP, RTMP. you don't necessarily need it if plain HTTP "progressive download" works for you. streaming servers are going to be more expensive.

amazon s3, there is an article on it in the latest edition of .net mag, sounds interesting.

I looked into this a while back .. there's a Macromedia server product specifically made for streaming video - flv and other formats ... the catch is it costs money. BUT there's also an open source server which looks pretty great (doing much the same thing for free)... check it out - it's called red5
