strange request, but we have a new client coming through the door, and the entire team is struggling with ideas for marketing tactics for this client (aside from using futura on everything).
one idea i had was for the owner (who is extremely active in the RV world, and does cross-country travels every month or so) to create a travelblog/travelogue.
other than that, we're drawing blanks, aside from some basic ideas for radio spots.
anyone have any good examples of rv-type marketing, or any ideas they want to liberate?

not helpful but the first thing I thought of....

well, that site is better than our client's by far.

just as i expected. this market pretty much sucks balls.
i'd really like us to do something unique for them, but i'm pretty sure in the end, it's going to end up as a bunch of screaming ads on the radio, some shitty red and blue americana website, and shitty pdf hand-outs.
unless, of course, i can get some decent examples to show of edgier best practices.

we're not looking for sloganeering. more or less looking for some examples of rv type marketing/visuals that don't suck.

every ad I hear is playing into the "economy going to shit so why not?!"thing so I think that'd probably work for RVs

aesthetically make it look like a 50's brochure -> slightly kitch / but not too overboard. give each advert the tone of a public education announcement -> use this to highlight the modern twists on the original rv concept: eg. GPS / wifimax / energy efficiency (LED lighting etc.. )
the obvious link to the 50's will give you a nice chance to work with some nice revivalist typography and create something which fits into some current trends -> possibly giving the campaign the edginess you're looking for.
it's a bit of a cheap shot / cliche -> but you'd have enough to make it distinctive maybe?

baseline, thank you. that is exactly along the lines of what i hope to achieve for them.
i love these palettes and style aesthetics. i'm going to do some research on these.

Don't sell the RV. Sell the travel while avoiding airports!

lukus, thanks a lot, that's right on strategy with how i need to pitch the first design phase to them.
