I don't have one but my verdict is that its really horrible to a degree of horribleness that I like to call "petrol station horrible".
- In fact, if I saw one of these for sale actually IN a petrol station I'd probably push my car elsewhere to fill up.Horp
- how can you judge without trying?Doorman
- in a petrol station? Must have been a fake then!Doorman
- You're right.
*Stabs unreliable eyes out.Horp - what's a fake petrol station like?version3
- Just a plywood fascia held up with wooden props and cut outs for windows. No snacks.Orbit

Yes, I own one. Overall quality is great. A slight learning curve to figure it out. You will need to calibrate the altimeter often but mine seems to stay pretty accurate. The digital compass has come in handy a few times.

Suunto got proper features like Barometer - Altimeter - Sea Level Pressure - Time of course - Weather forecast - Chrono - Alarm...etc
But hey it all depends what you are looking for...it is a bit like buying a camera or other things, i suppose
- version30
forecast? explain... how far into future? or just based on temp barometer etc? also, with all of the above mentioned "proper features" why come does it be having a rubber band? proper watches are made of metals IMO

I have a hole in my life that can only be filled with an accurate reading of the current sea level pressure.

I've wanted a Suunto Core for a while. Unfortunately I read some bad reviews lately and some people attributed it to a new manufacturing plant they're using. So I'm kinda on the fence now. I did find this handy alternative that is one of Suuntos competitors in both the watch and field compass categories, Silva. Looks like a nice watch though, has gotten some good reviews from the limited ones I could find online. About half the price too.
- Buy a core. I bought one used, had problems, sent it back to Suunto and got a new one free. No more problems.non
- Nice to hear! I've read that their customer service dept is really good. Unfortunately I've heard a lot of battery horror stories too. :(tommyo
- Bah, its worth it when you get a proper functionning one. Don't let the battery issues influence you.non

I have a Suunto Vector. I wear it when I am snowboarding, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities. I like an altimeter feature when I am up in a mountain. And if you know how to use barometer, then you can basically see the atmospheric pressure changing and can predict the weather change. If you are outdoor person, I think many of these feature will come very handy.

Guess it also depends on what you're doing with it. I'm starting to do a lot of backpacking / mountaineering so a lot of the tools these wrist computers have would be pretty useful. Suuntos are pretty damn beautiful though. Pricey but beautiful.

I always joke that if I ever get lost in the wild, this watch will save me. i think G-shock or Pathfinder also offers similar features.
I remember seeing Mark Wahlberg wearing one in the movie Shooter.

it's not too big. I saw the Timex at the OR Winter show this last fall in SLC: http://gearjunkie.com/or-winter-…
Pretty slick looking and it'll replace my HG Alterra.

- But where's the barometer?non
- I can't think of a good reason to have a barometer. Storm warning? Look around you. Altitude? GPS or refer to your map.monNom
- ...map. Compass will give you position, topo map will give you altitude with no weather adjustment.monNom
- I'd rather get lost than wear a fucking lanyard.boobs
