so, how did it go?

start with a static comp, then start writing some code. then like on the cooking show you open the site say - look all done.

We use to have to do that every year. One of our designers was smart enough ask for vacation days around that time every year.

Show them how cool you are by designing their myspace pages!

hmm, not sure what you could do in that amount of time. Maybe come in with some different WP themes ( I know, I know). Showing different uses of layout and colors. That way you could jump back and forth between them. Also showing how you can incorporate content into the sites. Ie. pix, audio, movies. etc etc.

ok, i think i'll just unload a bag of pixie sticks, let them ingest those for about five minutes, then ask if anyone has any question.
- version30
make it a discussion on intellectual property rights
when you're done, you'll have the kids demanding compensation for having their drawings hung on the fridge ;)

my co-worker said just explain office politics and how to do as little work as possible and get through the day...
- nearestexit0
i know. i'm thinking of just throwing crayons at them and tell them to go crazy on the walls and furniture.
- version30
you don't even need a computer to do this. 30 min is barely a foreword to a preface of what we endure/do

Instead of Doritos, can I just crack open a beer?
- OSFA0
Show them what you do... Log nto QBN, sit back, grab a Doritos bag and occasionally look for funny images on Google
- morilla0
just surf YTMND the whole time

So I was asked to give a 30-minute presentation about web design as a career for about 25-30 kids. Can anyone think of fun/interactive sites I could showcase as examples of what web designers do?
The folks coordinating this wanted me to give a little background about what a web designer does then build a web page with input from the kids (yawn....my eye are glazing over thinking about it). Instead, I wanted to show them something a bit more entertaining. Any suggestions?
