hi,
just wondering if anyone can recommend any advice.I am hoping to get my website to load in a more stylish manner. At the mo the pages are a bit clunky.
My coding is rubbish... but just wondered if there are any quick fixes. I've put it together in dreamweaver so far but my knowledge is very limited...
hope that makes sense.
thanks in advance.

You need to to title your work.
Currently you have:
<title>Untitled Document</title>

Its just a trial run to be honest. Just to see how its looking / working. I know I should do it as I go along but I'm not crash hot on it and havent quite figured out when i'm supposed to do what yet. Thanks though. I will go through and title everything shortly.

There are also issues with text alignment in IE 6 and 7.

thanks for your feedback. Its much appreciated.
Which pages do you mean?

its the footer in all pages... the text is aligned center in IE 6 and 7...

The pages load fine... What specifically is wrong with it?

hmmm. maybe its just my net connection, it seems to be quite slow loading the pages and the images load from the top and roll down.
Id just hoped to make it a bit more sophisticated and smoother.
fade in perhaps.
Also, im not sure what you mean by !E 6 and 7. Sorry for being a bit slow but I'm just starting out with this stuff.

Well... HTML does load from top to bottom.
Personally, unless you're proficient with javascript or flash, page transitions will just look bad and slow things down further.
To speed things up - you might want to consider starting again (sorry) and not using tables for your layout. You should look to using DIV/CSS layouts.
I believe dreamweaver has some CSS templates actually with some of the hard bits done for you.

oh ok. Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do then.
I've tried to get my head around the DIV/ CSS thing before but its baffled the hell out of me. I'll have a read through those pages and see if there are any tutorials etc aswell.
thanks again for your feedback.

Ive been teaching myself CSS this year. It helps to download a really simple css layout as a starting point, and tweaking to your specific needs.
something like this. http://blog.html.it/layoutgala/
Its an ugly start, but helpful in teaching yourself how exactly to use css to style.

Oh, not those Mickey Mouse codes again (MacroMedia (ex) Dreamweaver silly codes) ...
<code>
<!--
function MM_preloadImages() { }
function MM_swapImgRestore() { }
function MM_findObj(n, d) { }
function MM_swapImage() { }
//-->
</code>CSS that mofo.
on a side note, its a good looking site!

Just think of a div as a container of info. Once you have worked with a couple with a BG colour on it gets easier.

Do you think it would be a fairly easy site to build using CSS / Divs etc...
