Given my whereabouts I guess I'll just stick them on a wood log with a fluorescent pin haunting all of these man-forgotten wilds.

Simply have a card you're proud of... carry it in a monogrammed case... and hand it out at the end of enthralling conversations with individuals you feel you'd like to work with in any capacity... you only get one first impression...
- http://www.michaelle… <- the two sides of my card actually form the building blocks to my site...ideaist
- It's not quite done... ; )ideaist
- This is good.Corvo2
- Thanks pimp... been q while in the works... and my brand has developed since college days...ideaist
- I mean, your idea about cards is good, and your site is very good also.Corvo2

"Do you have any strategy associated with their dissemination"
Fuckin'ell that's a new way of putting it.Normally I give them out at meetings, or when I meet people who are interested in what I do, sometimes a mate wants my contact details. I never use it as a marketing tool, afterall, it's a business card...
- I understand. The notion of a personal card does not cope with a marketing tool, else risking loosing it's character.Corvo2

I got 500 cards 2 1/2 years ago and I've given out about 20 in that time and I find I'm using the rest of them as roaches in my roll up cigarettes.
Money well spent.
- <^ That was my question. If you print, say, 300, 500, how many are you keeping still?Corvo2
- I screen printed 250 on a nice cotton stock; they are each 50-75 cents so I treat them well...ideaist
- + I always receive compliments on the printing method / stock from people I end up working with...ideaist
- I see it as testing the waters of people's general appreciation for design/taste; online and offline...ideaist
- That's fair reasoning, all right.Corvo2

I wonder if tacking them to bulletin boards in coffee houses would yield results. Haven't tried that one yet.
- tack them to people in coffee houses insteadscarabin_net

go sit somewhere, look around, and after a while, think again where you looked at the most... some spot on the table, the wall, .. and go stick some there.
also, place some on things people use.. like on a restaurants toilet... or on peoples car

@Dancer.
I work on small gigs/projects presently. Design is not my first profession nor a full-time freelance gig. So my idea was to turn the business card into a representation of my engagement (which cannot be too big at the moment).
I'm working on Training right now, but design driven. After I complete this project I'm working on, I'll have a full EU recognised training model that can be applied to a company of my own.
At present, I'm just gathering assets and exposure, and trying to encompass a multidisciplinary work model that will answer to certain outputs (which I cannot give details right now). Broadly, it involves learning and publishing and some other surprises.
It looks a bit foggy right now when I explain it, but there is a plan I'm working on.
My main purpose is to devise a structure independent enough that doesn't need any State or bank support. As you may know, that's not that easy in mainland EU.

Which is all fine Corvo but I believe that (for a designer) you should not rely on your 85x55mm card to market your business, this is what a website is for. Clients do not want to see you squeeze a message on just to fulfill your entire misson and output.
If you want to do a small piece of marketing, create a concertina or a small leave behind , don't just rely on your card for the sake of cost and usability.
Less is certainly more in this case.
I currently print my own business cards, TBO I should get them done professionally really as I have been a freelance for 3 years, but I only give out a handful every year. Mind you I have never actively gone seeking for work

I used to collect peoples cards and keep them on me until I had to poo in a public restroom. When I was done, I'd stick the card in the bit sticking out of the water, and not flush.
