And I want an Eastern team to win this time. Or a team that isn't the Sharks.
Fast movement + scoring > big guys + hits.
- You think the East is faster than the West. If so, things have shifted the last couple years.ETM
- West used to be known for the speedier teams.ETM
- I would agree that the West has more physical teams and the East seems to have more of the "young w/ good hands" type.rosem
- Agreed. But a real shift seen only in the last 2, maybe 3 years.ETM
- Yeah, I'm talking about the past few years, when I actually cared about the playoffs b/c the Sens were good.juhls
- Wait.. when was that?? :DETM
- They made the finals...juhls
- :Djuhls
- all my money is on the sharks.
only cause i saw a guy in saskatoon wearing a "harks" jacketross

I think a lot of people have the wrong impression of hockey, and their fans. Most people outside of hockey hate fighting, but don't understand it ensures that people like Crosby, Ovechkin, and back in the day, Gretzky and Lemieux do not get overtly cheap-shottéd, and taken out. It's a way of policing their own, and making it blatantly obvious that any minor/ major penalty will result in severe and repeated reminders to not do that.
Most people assume fighting on the ice (which happens rarely, all things considered [unless you're a Flyer]), translates to fighting in the stands. Not so, not so by a long shot.
Exceptions in terms of crowds would be, again the Flyers (no-nothings), and the Boston crowd (really not that far off from Philly in all sports, except their teams are decent). Actually I'd throw Toronto in that mix too.
Though to Maple Leaf fans credit, their team blows and they still travel to see them. I had a blast with them last year at a pub in Pittsburgh watching the EPL in the waking hours for most people over here.
They came to literally see Crosby play in person, and stayed overnite to catch football before heading back. They talked about fights they were in and everything, and we joked about all types of shit, even though I was a Penguin (and Arsenal) fan, haha.

Red Wings now have two in hand over the suddenly hapless Blackhawks!
Things are looking good for our heroes!

Everyone counted the Pens out just a few short months ago. They get to play the no respect card, the everyone hates Crosby card, and we got our asses handed to us by a very good team in the Finals last year card.
If they lost this series, they would have taken so many steps backward it would have been akin to many teams in the past who failed to raise Lord Stanley.
Yes, they didn't have the regular season everyone expected of them. But you don't get the Cup for what happens in there. Everyone's mentality was just get to the playoffs no matter the seed (ended up fucking 4th for fuck's sake), and it would work itself out, but just fucking get there.
After a series like this, I don't see the Bruins or Canes winning against the Penguins. 5/6 games tops. The NHL would love to have a Boston/ Chicago Final though... they already had their Crosby/ Ovechkin Series, that would be their next ideal candidate.
But the Staal Brothers playing each other would be great in the Eastern Finals for the fans of both teams, haha.
The Penguins ... so hot rite now.
They could collectively take a shit in aluminum foil, wrap them up, and Queen Elizabeth would wear them as earrings.
- They are hot right now, but everyone will be exhausted (including from the other team). The series was close.juhls
- 4th isn't that bad, imo. To me, it's weird that some teams can be great during the reg. season and do amazingly welljuhls
- during the playoffs, and vice-versa. It's been that way for years, but it can be frustrating depending on your team.juhls
- *great during the reg. season = average during the reg. seasonjuhls
- I think they'll be fine despite the fatigue factor. Of course I say this as a Pens fan and not a conscientious observer, haha.flavorful

lol - Tortorella. First Avery now him. I really hope the Caps win this series. Boston vs Washington would be a great match up.
How about those Pens!?! That was a great game yesterday!

With just a bit of luck we'll get one of our teams back.
- nice.juhls
- I don't have much hope though.juhls
- apparently Gary Bettman hates Jim Balsillie and the league is fighting the offersikma
- so it sounds like a long shotsikma
- Betman hates new teams in Canada period. Even if its our sport. He wants the US to accept it more widely if he rams it down their throat..ETM
- rams it down their bloody throats. He just doesn't get it.ETM
