My parents babysit my son Julio on Monday til tuesday. He loves hanging out in my dads wood/welding shop- he has a little board that he hammers nails into, which, for a little guy thats a month away from being 2 years old it something else haha.
Anyway, my father had setup a spot welder to weld some small plates or something. He turned it off when he brought Julio downstairs, but I guess welders can still hold a bit of power for a little while. My dad turned around for a second to get something and he heard ZzZzZZZZZZZZT!!!
dad said he spun around to catch julio welding a thin plate of metal. Even though this was very dangerous, Julio amazes me every day. I should get this kid in a welders union by the time he's 4.

My mom had me chopping vegetables, in diapers before I could walk, with a 12" chef's knife on the kitchen counter. Apparently people flipped out when they saw it, but I never hurt myself, and love to cook still.
- Don't underestimate children. Dangerous activities are great learning tools.monospaced

This past weekend my wife, son and I, as well as another family of friends, rented a small old cabin on Mt. Hood. There was still a good amount of snow around and we had to have a fire constantly going to keep warm, which meant every few hours or so I had to go out and chop more wood.
My 6yr old would join me and unleash his fury on some unsuspecting logs with a hatchet. Afterwards he said it was his favorite part of the trip. *Wipes tear.

By the way, I never did anything. Apparently I watched Sesame Street while rolling around in, and sleeping inside of carpets.

Your child will forever understand how bright a welding spark is and which direction to point the spot welder.

See? There are other kids who do dangerous things too!

kids play with everything, don't use this episode to make him a welder

Cute story, mango. Nothing more fun to a kid than "working" with the grown-ups.
