Any good tutorials out there using Actionscript 2.0?
Thanks.

Cuepoints? Like in flvs? 'cause otherwise you are just asking about frame labels which are self explanatory, no?
- airey0
and like lvl_13 mentioned, use 'labels' rather than frame numbers. some newbies make that error (well i did and figure there must be others as stupid as me) which meant that everytime a timeline was modified with additional or less frames the number was no longer correct whereas the frame label was always a label.

Why would you want to learn something that is nearly obsolete?
Granted, AS2 will probably be around for a while longer. But if you are going to put time and effort into learning something, I'd at least consider AS3 - it's not THAT much harder.

Yeah, unfortunately that's what we're doing in school. Thankfully it'll be over in two weeks, and then I can start learning AS3 or whatever.

This is what I have so far:
How do I get actual text to show up for each cue point?
Right now, the trace works, and this is the message I get for each time the cue point is fired:
"cue point fired
Cue Point Nameundefined
Target that dispatched_level0.video
Cue Point timeundefined"It's hard to find tutorials for this, I find.
Another method:
But there seems to be an issue with lines 3 and 4.
Any help would be appreciated.

the switch is much nicer to read IMO

this gives you a little more info (available in the flash help section)

Thanks. Any idea why my text isn't showing up?
- maximillion_0
you mean its not becoming visible?
if so - its more likely to be a scope issue. where is this code in relation to myText?
try this to see if its in scope

I have it on the actions layer, and the text is on a separate layer. They are all on the first timeline. When traced, "myText" doesn't show up in the output.

does it give 'null' or 'undefined'
is the textfield named and on stage in the first frame?
- juhls0
I'm uploading it now, in case it's easier.
It is named "myText", dynamic text, and yes, first frame. Does not give anything out, even "null" or "undefined".

so does one of the switch values match the cue point name?
ie do you get any output from within the swtich statement
- juhls0
Here you go: http://queueban.com/flash/
Not sure if you actually want to download it (not that it's big). But I do really appreciate the help.
Yup, the names match the cue point names, and I do get that output.
- maximillion_0
you had no text in the textfield - so you would be able to tell if it became visible or not. and the swtich statement needed to use
var cuePointName:String = p_eventObj.info.name;
