I have a client who wants a section on their site allowing their clients to login. They assign a client a user / pass combination, and the client logs in and sees a list of files pertaining specifically to their project. Also, they'd like the functionality of allowing the client to upload files. How do I make this happen?

basecamp looks great, but also seems a bit overkill! I just need something very simple. I can suggest basecamp to the client but I'm not sure if a subscription service is what they're looking for. Ideally they want something that will live on their own domain that they are hosting themselves. Any other ideas?

make an account for them on the site's control panel so they can login using any ftp client and do whatever in their own directory.
