well, you could convince a jewler to let you borrow a sizing stick... or buy one. Then when she's in the shower, grab a ring and measure it quick. That seems like an easy way.
- "Can I borrow your stick?"
"Eh?"
"Your stick. I need to assess the size. Of your stick."harlequino - hahahahhahahahahahha...alicetheblue

this is getting kinda dumb...
custom wood ring means you need her exact finger size, which means you need a proper jeweller's finger measure.
end.

get kinky with her one night and talk her into putting her ring finger into your behind. but secretly while the lights are off you trick her into putting her finger in a cup of wet plaster. the plaster will take the fingers size and you can then take that to the jeweler. bingo!
congrats btw! honestly take her shopping to a target or some shit and walk her past their cheap ass ring stand and start trying some on. hopefully you can talk her into putting one on her ring finger, or, if you're lucky she'll do it on her own. when she walks away grab that ring off the rack and use it as a guide when you go get the ring.
it's what i did.

Does she have any family members? While you are not there, they could start a story about getting a ring or something (less obvious) for another person, and then mention that your girlfriend may have the same finger size (the family member who is measuring could have huge fingers or whatever is the opposite of what your GF has, to make the story more plausible). They will then casually measure the finger, but really try to brush it off afterwards or change the subject in a smooth manner.
- This is great too..thanks, hadn't thought of that.dMullins

Just a note of practacality (and do NOT take this the wrong way)-
You guys have discussed this a bit, right? Getting married and all?
IF you have, you could probably get an accurate measurement evenwhile telling her it's for future reference. Doesnt' matter, she will be thrilled when you present the ring.
IF you haven't, at all...maybe want to get something that can be resized later or easily taken back. Recently heard a story about the girl saying "no, i am not ready." Kind of a sad story, but he has to return a ring.
That's all. And Congrats by the way, always good news. :)
- i just reread your first post, so ignore if totally unapplicable.harlequino
- yeah really, just ask.
i did. she was still surprised when i finally asked7point34

Listen if she is 5'8 normal weight her ring size is going to be somewhere between 6 or or 7 look it up at the jewlers and they tell you the same thing.
- You can't guess with this sort of thing.juhls

- http://www.halls.md/… I love how we all fit on a sliding scale tableversion3

btw i feel your pain brother, i'm not interested in marriage but asking for the ring size is a can of worms i don't want opened, even if to just buy a ring as a gift, good luck

seriously this is dumb. propose with something else and then get her finger measured. make it symbolic, part of the romance. mb a ribbon to measure her finger.
i'm assuming if you're thinking wood rings she's somewhat unconventional and not a princess expecting a giant rock.
i proposed to my wife spontaneously with a finger-sized rubber elastic band. no joke.

something token, inexpensive, keep sakeish for the proposal, discuss your plans and work on a ring together with your wood guy?

Thanks Harle, that might be the best bet to just take her to a fitter and make as if it's for future reference. It definitely has to be a very accurate measurement for the sake of the materials involved. Thanks for all the "lol you idiot, get a ring of hers measured." Way to prove you can read.
- best of luck. keep us posted. i'd love to see the finished product.kona

Will do Kona. I guess I'm probably just going to get her measured, and from there, start the process. Design, sketches, dimensions. Then he hand-carves a wax model, and casts it, then the metal is finished by hand. The stone or cluster is created, and then mounted.
I'm really excited about this, and I'll post some process pictures as we go along.
Thanks for the input.

Go to the mall with her and stop by a department store make an effort to walk by the jewelery section. Say you want to know your ring size and just for s&g's see what hers is. Then playfully tell her she has huge hands. Like "Daayum you got some mits on you girl. I bet its easy for you to catch stuff." That will throw her off your trail.
- Yah, but most of the catching is done with the mouth, right? I mean, thats what marriage is all about, eh?dMullins
- Wont make sense, SHE'LL BE CONFUSEDdMullins
- Dang son. What’s the number one killer of a sex life...Wedding cake. But if you wanna keep her in the dark then make a joke out of it. Sometimes girls can’t catch on when you make fun of them a little.brothernoah
- uberdesigner0
just get her to jerk off your teeny penis with her finger
- MSTRPLN0
Have her try on some rings and then come back home and tell you her size.
- chossy0
Measure the diameter of your whallice, then multiply that number by 100+ her finger should around that size.
- boobs0
Buy a ring. If it doesn't fit, you know she's not the girl for you, and you'll need to find another.

How about: trace the inside of her ring on a piece of paper. Take paper to jeweler. Really not a big problem if you have a brain.
