Fonts without extensions

    I have recently been given a brochure to update in InDesign CS3, trouble is that my mac is unable to read the links to the font folder... i.e. the font files do not seem to have an extention (e.g .dfont) could this be a problem with OT vs TT fonts... or is this a mac vs pc prob... and if so is there a way i can open these mystery fonts? you help would be much appreciated. ta
