Take the chorus of a famous song and squeeze the lyrics into a only 132 characters. For instance here's "Life on Mars?" by David Bowie :
slrs ftg n dnc hl. o mn,lk@cv mn go! frekst sho. tk lk@lw mn btg up wrng g. o mn,wndr f hel vr no. hs n bst slg sho. s thr lf n mrs? #chorus
Yes, 132 characters and not 140 because you need the remaining 8 slots to add a space and then the "#chorus" tag at the end.

why?
- if you spend yr time on QBN you don't get to pretend you have better things to do.stewdio

maybe if something intelligible came out I'd understand but I can sit on my keyboard and make a string of characters that makes just as much sense as that ^

LOL. You may be on to something there. At any rate, here's the chorus to Beyoncé's "All the Single Ladies" :
cz f u lkd t tn u shd pt rng n t. f u lkd t tn u shd pt rng n t. dnt b md wnc u c tht h wnt it. f u lkd t tn u shd pt rng n t. o o o #chorus

Got better things to with my time

Like what exactly? Adding bacon to websites? Oooooo! ;)
(This is what Fiesta has listed on QBN as his home page: http://bacolicio.us/) Are you really in Paris? Have a cheap flat you'd like to unload on a fellow designer this autumn?

David Bowie's "Oh! You Pretty Things" super compressed chorus :
O U prT tngs! dnt U no yr drvn yr mas&pas Nsn? O U prT tngs! dnt U no yr drvn yr mas&pas Nsn? lt me mk pln: gt2 mk wy fr hmo sprior #chorus

you could just get some one to make a java applet that makes this for you.. like Jawks translator :P

I could have written an algorithm for it, yes, but there's something there in the process of hand-curating the compression. You only have to squeeze it enough to fit, and no more. The humanity of it is what makes it interesting. What syllables need emphasis? To me it's more poetry than simply pulling letters out.
If the purpose was simply mechanical compression then this does a poor job. Might as well use an HTML-friendly version of the LZW algorithm or something. But where's the fun in that? (And as an aside, why would you want to use Java when Python or Perl would be better suited for this sort of programming? Even JavaScript makes more sense for this than Java.)

or one line of PERL...
- stewdio0
Wait, wait. I said Perl ;)
It's probably a *perfect* job for Perl. But I'm not J.A.P.H. so I'd probably try Python to make it more clear for myself. Still I say this is better left to human processes (as if it were poetry) rather than logical operations.

^ Your explanation of the thing seems to me much more interesting than the thing itself.

What can I say? I fall in love with the intricacies of bizarre systems. (It makes me socially hopeless.) For instance, I am infatuated with the Arecibo Message : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Are…
Also, perhaps it would be more interesting if other people participated. One person playing in a vacuum is usually pretty boring. I know many of you are on Twitter, despite the Twitter bashing on QBN. And I know you listen to music so... squeeze some long choruses into a Twitter message and tag it #chorus. ;)
