not sure about the legibility of the r, and what is the star burst at the end?
other than that, i think it is really nice.
- MrOneHundred0
That’s what the burst is at the end – jam. Pretty obvious to me.

i really like it. nice work. the little poof off the s isn't really necessary – that's my only critique. that and it could use a little more color.

Plebian know-nothing crit:
i like it. i can see it embroidered on a chef's coat or like on a wooden sign or something. The words seem a little too far away from the image, maybe experiment with that (if you haven't already). And while it's neat, the little dandelion on the end of the s doesn't seem to fit, as in a logical "this has something to do with the other things or with the tea room" way.But again, like Schultz says "I know NOTHING!!"

too literal with the dining set up.
the type with the jam-splat thing would be great by itself. you dont need that awkward furniture sitting on top of it. it's like saying "yes, we are a cafe". too literal.
- i disagree .. the chairs set the mood._salisae_
- the type is awesome. it's all you need!iCanHazQBN
- nope. you fail._salisae_
- yes, "come here and sit on these unstable chairs made of jelly".iCanHazQBN
- the placement and sizing of the furniture in relation to the type is awkward as well.iCanHazQBN
- i kind of have to agree here...I think the type say's "Jam" and it looks yummy enough to lick.coco_ono
- plus, the symmetry of the furniture doesn't compliment the asymmetry of the type.iCanHazQBN
- yes but then you are thinking about jam and tarts and not a tea room_salisae_
- do you have to include a picture of a tea room in a logo for a tea room???iCanHazQBN
- if it doesn't say tea room it certainly helps_salisae_
- thats ridiculous, and a very literal, amateur design habit people do.iCanHazQBN
- think of how nice the type would sit on the top left corner of the website. the dining set would look like shit.iCanHazQBN
- okay mr. google.com_salisae_
- i dunno...zoomed out, the chairs and table looks a bit cluttered...maybe is he/she worked on it a bit more, it could work perfectly.coco_ono
- lol. i think you've seen my work. and as i recall, you like it. this is just my evening name ;)iCanHazQBN
- lol .. really? i like your work? that's so funny evening name. okay i agree with you now._salisae_
- im pretty sure you did like it. and yes, this is my name to piss around on qbn :). although im serious here.iCanHazQBN
- well you have to switch your name back so we know who we're talking to_salisae_
- well no. i've already done too much damage using this name. i cant associate this name with my actual one.iCanHazQBN
- dont get hung up on it though. we're not close...iCanHazQBN
- thanks for the gentle let down_salisae_
- thing is, my boss knows my actual sn here. & he comes here sometimes. dont want him to make the connection.iCanHazQBN

I will stake (monopoly) money on that star burst being jam. When ThisIsMe cares to return, we will settle up.
- ThisIsMe0
it was actually kind of a amalgamation of a few concepts smashed into one on the clients request. The image was based off of an idea of 50's kitchen wallpaper, and I guess I didn't sell them entirely on the idea. I'm pretty new to this freelance thing. They had their way with the chairs, wanted them more literal. The starburst, which was just a decoration in the top corner above the chair was moved down, and some of the joy was leeched out.
This was what I recovered with.
I agree, I feel the burst is a little extraneous, but the client "had to have it."
I REALLY appreciate all your comment. I have to admit I was little nervous posting work here.
Thanks
- Dump the chairs and post them on the "Chair of the Day" thread. http://www.qbn.com/t…utopian
- thanks utopianAmicus

what i like about the chairs and table is that it doesn't look like an incredible amount of detail or time was put into it. it looks cosy and comfortable and very welcoming. just my opinion of course.
- iCanHazQBN0
lose the furniture. you have an opportunity here to have a really great, long-lasting mark with the type & the splat alone. the furniture doesn't add anything. you already have the comfortable, welcoming feel from the type.
ugh. believe me. the furniture is awkward, and not in a cutesy way. it doesn't even feel grounded, feels like it's just floating there. like you just pasted clip art on there. an afterthought.
less is definitely more in this case.
- jesus tours._salisae_
- i just feel like the type is really strong and hate to see a potentially great logo get F-ed up like this.iCanHazQBN
- YOU WILL NOT FURNISH YOUR LOGO.iCanHazQBN
- i want to be on your side but am just not sure you feel strongly enough about this_salisae_
- it's great to see you talk about things other than tang tho._salisae_
- we can talk about jelly and tang together...eh? eh?iCanHazQBN
- ThisIsMe0
- show it in different applications. it helps A LOT. let them see it in action. it will make sense to themiCanHazQBN
- show it on stationery, on a hat, on a shirt... whatever.iCanHazQBN
- Affluenza0
I prefer the type treatment on it's own. But if it's going to come down to a bit of a sparing match with the client I would try controlling where the illustration appears. Perhaps just on one side of the sign, on one window or in between content in the menu as a visual breaker. Create a priority between the two and have the illustration as a secondary device. Of course, this could be just another job making that work. Not much help I guess. Nice work though.

+1 Lose the chairs.
+1 Keep the pop, but refine it a bit more.
- Complexfruit0
I like it as is as well, minus the burst.
