What about for those who are not expert with coding, pretty friendly?
- dontsueme0
yes, definitely. probably the best $99 i've ever spent. i would recommend giving the 14-day trial a go, and if you like it, run with it and buy a license.
the streamlined one-window development is really what i've been meaning to switch to, and luckily i found the right application for myself finally.

I want to like Coda, but its UI inconsistencies are driving me mad.
I don't use wysiwyg preview for site testing, but it can be handy for jumping to code. You click on an element in preview window and its code gets selected in editor view. Same with DOM breadcrumbs below - click on an element within breadcrumb and code is selected. Simple and can be useful in complex pages.
Dreamweaver does it perfectly.
Coda does it sometimes, ie. for some elements. You can select an element in preview but only some of them will get highlighted in editor. Coda does have breadcrumbs, but clicking on them does nothing. That's useless. Also, Coda has two identically looking editors, yet different. One is a proper normal editor in Edit mode, the other one is in Preview mode, when you press <> (View Source).
From Coda help:
"You can make changes to the page source while viewing it, which will be reflected in the preview. However, these changes are not propagated back to any open editor."Thing is, the preview editor looks just like main editor, so it's easy not to notice. But if you make any changes in it, they get flushed.

I only paid $25 because I got it when it was first released. I'm so cool.

I made the jump from TextMate a short while ago because TextMate couldn't handle *huge* projects (100s of files). Coda seems to perform really well for big projects.
I had to use DW the other day for the first time in years, since a client needed to use tables for layouts (don't ask) - couldn't believe how awkward it was to use.

i've switched from dreamweaver to coda also, and i love it.
one thing i miss from dreamweaver is how you can auto complete the css id and classes that are linked to the document.
i guess if coda has that feature it wouldn't load as fast.

I have used Coda and BBEdit, Coda feels more friendly and intuative, the Code tips is the biggest advantage.
I only use Dreamweaver to set up docs and Tables...

used it today, for the 1st time. :-)
- other wise i used dreamweaver or someone else is doing the code.akrokdesign

OK, someone tell me how to autoformat (indent) my code. Is there a plugin or 3rd party fix for this?
If they had just included this one feature I would be totally sold on Coda, as it is I still have DW around to take care of certain tasks.

I might be missing the context of your question ukit, but this is all I found:
Line Indenting
Coda automatically indents certain markup for you by default but you’ll still find yourself using the Tab button pretty frequently. Instead of jumping to the front of a line to indent it you can push Command + Left or Right Bracket to indent the line the cursor is currently in.Shift Text
Highlighting text and pushing Command + Left or Right Bracket will shift the highlighted text left or right. This is great for shifting a whole section of markup for good looking markup formatting.

the tab thing is really just to make is easier or prettier, right? or does it has an other function?
- I have no clue! HAHA, I just dug through some shit I remembered I'd bookmarkedPoint5

Is it good for anything besides CSS?
- ukit0
^ Yeah pretty much what I was wondering, thx. I don't know when I became such a stickler about indenting my code,
In general, I really like the program it's nice and light compared to DW, and the UI is very slick. But I'm missing the function in DW Commands > Autoformat.

So Coda isn't some tribe in Survivors?

FrontPage(LOL) --> Dreamweaver(used this trash for a month)> BBedit(been using since 2004) now everyone wants me to try coda or TextMate. I started using CssEdit about 2 months ago. it definitely makes everything easier/faster, but for mark-up I feel BBedit is all I need. I read a few comparisons between BBedit, TextMate, and Coda but I'm front end and don't really see how any of them are going to make life significantly easier/faster. What are the main things that draws you to Coda? Is it really worth learning a new app?
- Been hand coding this whole time too so WYSWYG doesn't really appeal to me.graphiknature
- Coda's not really WYSIWYG, though it does have a preview window. I personally like Taco, go figure.Point5

I love Textmate, can't believe I wasted all those years and money using that dogshit named Dreamweaver

I too switched from DW to Coda. I love it as well. I use it as my main dev environment at work too.
