I get that you've not been paid - but, to clarify, did they return your piece to you like in that second picture? Is it completely unusable for you now?
- WeLoveNoise0
what nairm said but also how did u want them to send you artwork back to you in the first place ?
plus - didnt u say you left qbn for yayhooray ? u've got some nerve showing ur mutt round here again ;)
- Ooh. Its that point that comes in all good threads where the tide begins to turn.
* Opens Chipsticks and pop.Horp - lol - was just curious.
originally thought he was talking about a print and looks like its and collage sort of thing now.WeLoveNoise

how long did it take you to make that piece of art?
- Nairn0
I guess you're off doing more important things.
Drop me a line if you're interested in getting it remade - perhaps we can come to an agreement where I can laser cut it for you at cost, if you let me show your image as a 'client shot' someday?
I'm in London too.
- glory seeker!23kon
- :P23kon
- Nairn, I would like to design something for you to laser cut can I can I?Horp
- Of course you can, you silly goat - that's why I hoped to meet you last time you were in London!Nairn
- A balance of self interest, kon23 - I've seen that piece of WaP's work and was saddened to see it broken so.Nairn
- By which I mean, "I'd seen that work before".Nairn
- Damn. I'm coming to London next week. I will DEFINITELY let you know see if you're free.Horp

holy shit dude, this sucks. Like Horp said, bill them for destroying your work.

Lay a torch to their offices. Disrespectful prick-lickers!!!

Hmm...what does Nairn do?
- chossy0
This is a terrible story.
- wordsarepictures0
Hey Nairn, sorry bud I was out for lunch but I sent the piece over between some pieces of foamboard and thought it would come back the same way but apparently not. It's such a fragile thing, who would ever think bundling it into a FedEx envelope was ok?
I was going to abandon QBN but I thought if there's one thing the regular posters here do well it's being angry, and that's just what I needed to hear :)

@wordsarepictures
That seriously sucks... it was a beautiful piece.
For future reference when you send out your work for display have a damage agreement signed by the requesting party. This would also include their company insurance information so you can collect on them if they damage your work. You'd also put the value of the piece on the agreement. This all happens before the work goes out the door.
Some will refuse to show the work due to this but obviously that would be a red flag since they wouldn't take responsibility for it if it was damaged.

that sucks!

Hi, I'm Nick from YCN and have just read the post and comments.
Firstly I would like to publicly apologise to Craig for the disrespect shown to his work, and the anger we have caused him as a consequence.
Craig,
If you read this post before you hear my message or see my email - I'd appreciate the chance to discuss this with you privately, apologise to you in person, and commission you to recreate the piece that had been so thoughtlessly trashed. It's very important for me that we see if there's a way to begin to make this right and I hope you'll be kind enough to let us try. I called and left you a voice message as soon as I got your email on Friday - and have replied to your email too.
This episode is very upsetting for the whole team at YCN, both as big fans of your work and as supporters of design and illustration. I am today going to write to the team at the agency you refer too, for their thoughts on how such a delicate piece of work came to be manhandled by someone in their team into an inappropriately sized envelope and returned so thoughtlessly. I am staggered someone could do this - but irrespective, YCN must take full responsibility for the situation.
Clearly we made big errors in how we followed up the YCN LIVE project. It would be kind if you could let me know privately of correspondence you sent to anyone at the YCN team to follow up your work's return, which I am embarassed to assume must have gone unanswered. My apologies also for the length in time you waited for payment for your pitch invoice. We have learned a lot from these mistakes, but I don't expect this to give you any comfort of course.
If you're reading Craig - I feel awful about the ugliness of this situation and hope both that you can give me a call and that there will be some way we can begin to make this up to you.
My mobile's on the email and I'm around all weekend.
Hope to hear from you,
Nick- Good man.chossy
- Ah i like this, niceKiggen
- Shit happens, sadly - but it's in the apology and redemptive steps that true heart comes out. Good job, Nick.Nairn
- Very, very sincere. Nice onebabaganush
- now tell him he has to TITB in order to make up for it...OSFA

I like this nick guy he was thoughtful as well, either way you get commissioned man and that's a happy ending to any story.
- iCanHazQBN0
NO. Fuck this! I still want a riot!... They're sooooo much fun! :D
- harlequino0
Well said, YCN Nick. It's reassuring to see folks step up and make things right when someone's been burned.
I love happy endings.
