Let's not forget a very important fact here my friends:
The only scene any of these suburban teenage freaks are actually involved in is the MALL FOOD COURT.

"How to be scene!
"Add scene music. Bands like Metro Station, M.I.A., Tokio Hotel, Lily Allen, Millionares, The Medic Droid and Shiny Toy Guns all fall in that category. Change your song every week to prevent playing an old song. Scene music has a large range; it involves most music except country and most rap. Anything techno, random, or unique will work. If you can't think of a good song, check out what other scene kids are listening to.
Become active on social networking sites. Myspace, Facebook, Stickam, Buzznet, Purevolume, and Bebo are the main ones. However, avoid Bebo if you can - it's not as socially acceptable as the others."
Oh god..."check out what others are listening to! Go on Facebook!"...this is shaping up to be another generation in need of an ass-whooping. This depression might be a good thing after all...

This is really one of the more laughable things I've come across lately. The adoption of the word "scene" to frame a demographic, when their scene is basically looking the same as everyone else.
It's like saying "How to be parking lot" if you and your friends hang out in a parking lot. Or like "how to be bathroom" if you all spend a bunch of time in them and it's your main focus of interaction and ability.
And like I said above, it's just hilarious that their "scene" is nothing more than the same thing decades of teenagers have done before them: hanging out somewhere, doing something, and wearing clothing that fits that particular peer group or place in time. They're not a part of any scene; they're just in a void.
- Finally a generation more vapid than mine! Win!TheBlueOne
- this happens with every generation, do you think our parents think we made the best decisions?version3

The first rule of being scene is not to talk about being scene.

No Admitted Hipsters Found at 'Total Hipster Party'
"God, this is such a scene. I really just wanted to do something kinda intimate and chill," said Crystal Perriman, a young waitress with a mohawk, pierced nostril, sleeveless Budweiser shirt, fannypack and Blue Blocker sunglasses.
"Seems like you can't go anywhere anymore without a bunch of art kids showing up trying to look all cool," she added, taking a drag of her Parliament then washing it down with a Sparks.
The party, located on top of a converted live-work space in San Francisco's Mission District, attracted a crowd of approximately 50 guests during it's busiest hours. While most of the attendants identified themselves as artists, DJs, writers, musicians and performers, there were no reports of anyone introducing themself as "a hipster". A strange phenomenon, considering the amount of conversation dedicated to the observation that it was a "total hipster party".

as if any of you had any fucking style
quit being jealous and ignorant and at least try to age gracefully
yes, there are people who push trends too far (as with anything), but some of you push "old" too far.
- Wrong. It's shitting on things that are ridiculous to ANYONE.mg33
- there are millions of people who appreciate that stuff
that's why there's such a huge market for that demographicscarabin_net

You know, for the last two years of high school in 95 and 96, my hair was dyed blonde, then yellow, then white. All my clothes were from thrift stores. we collected women's belts and ceramic figurines from dollar stores. wore corduroy pants all the time, wore giant skateboard jeans. did nothing but go to school, skateboard, and play in a rock band. I remember the stares from "normal people," I remember my parents having the "he's just going through a phase" conversations. It was thrilling in a way, doing something so askew to what the average typical teen was doing. I(we) knew it was odd and we knew people found it odd.

Feel like they have already penetrated the entire alternative market, and realize that maybe it is time 2 start targeting more mainstreamers. Feel sad that the Am Appy authentic glory days might be over/might live 4ever. Just looking for simple clothes that don’t brand me too much, but can still associate me with a relevant aesthetic. Not sure if there will ever be another Am Appy. Glad they came along, or all alternative ppl would still be wearing ‘vintage’ or maybe even ‘trying to make THE GAP’ seem alt.
Kinda sad that I didn’t know there was a ‘financial crisis’ going on behind the scenes of Am Appy. Not sure how businesses work, though, so maybe ‘mergers and acquisitions’ are . Feel like ’such a consumer’ sometimes. Then I pick up the ‘newspaper’ on the internet and read abt how companies are doing their best 2 expand and stay alive in a rapidly changing economy.
- "AM appy"? That was a style? I thought it was like Fruit of the Loom with Helvetica.TheBIueOne
