  what do you guys think of this font?

  for some reason I like it and I'm debating on using it in a project

  well I've never used it on a project but I think it'll work for the current one.

  I've always used it for word doc's/emails and now it's sort of grown on me.

  But if it's up there with comic sans maybe I should just avoid it.

  I think it's more modern and has more personality than using something as typical as Times New Roman.... but, it's just so hard to read in field type

  Depends on the content. It's the typewriter font, so if you are trying to evoke that era or a kind of rough feel, it could be OK.

  Dumping Courier for Times New Roman
  The U.S. State Department has issued an edict that bans it's longtime standard typeface for a “more modern&rduo; typeface. They are dumping Courier New 12, and replacing it with Times New Roman 14 for all official correspondence. (of course, there are three exceptions to this already: telegrams, treaty materials prepared by legal affairs office, and documents drawn up for the president's signature).

  Was recently forced to design some stationery in copperplate and most text in bank gothic.

  once you start buying typeface, you won't feel the pain anymore, coz you will study it like a book or music you paid to own, trust me on this one. it won't be just another file in your HD
