Making Boring Products Look Good

I currently have a client that makes pump bearings. They are really cutting edge technology but their products are not all that exciting to look at.
They have decent budgets and are willing to do interesting stuff so I am looking for examples of well designed Industrial brochures.Help? Thanks.

Create wireframe diagrams of them, and get all technical. They look badass.

If it's cutting edge technology then circle back conceptually to what it is about them that makes them so innovative. Depending upon what they do and how they are so cool, you could do a lot with print...eerr depending upon budget, of course.

I had one similar recently (http://thepetroltankcompany.co... turned out ok but had shitty content and wouldn't pay me to tidy up their photography (the 1st big tank was done as an example)
I guess if it was me, I'd focus on big typography and clear bold statements rather than imagery.

Obviously their products are super bad-ass, however when you look at the mood of the photos (at the link) you'll see their art director did a fantastic job of capturing the mood of the facility and production, which lends credibility to the product ultimately.

photograph the process of how it's made to lend some history/context perhaps. that photo up there on white looks bad because it's boring.
