cinema4d object into after effects

Hey all.
Wondering if anyone has a solution for this: I'm trying to import a 3d object from cinema4d into AE. After lots of trials, I managed finally render an aec file, that, with the relevant plugin, after effects can import. BUT, as it imports the little aec project, it's missing the actual 3d object. It shows me a missing footage file thing, but I'm not sure what that is supposed to be. Am I supposed to save something else apart from the aec file?
Please help!

aec along with the quicktime file it uses to reference

You have to tag all the items you want in the export...

Not sure, but I'm a C4D sometimes user sometimes sufferer. I'd love to see what you come up with. Could you post a link when you're ready?

Are you talking about an actual 3D object, or the footage you rendered (i.e. Quicktime file, image sequence, etc)?

Well then the issue is that After Effects (unless we are talking CS4, which I haven't used) does not support 3D objects on their own, only ancillary tools out of C4D like cameras and lights.
The only way I know of to do that is with a plugin made by Zaxwerks. You have to export an object in a file format like DXF or 3DS and then AE can interact with it.
