A word of advice.
I am working for a major consumer that has been undergoing some major changes, I dont know what will be left of the company as its reputation goes even lower than it is... round two now of redundancies... let alone mine in this climate. I am considering a voluntary departure with a 3month livable package n planning on getting work elsewhere... a wise move? or do I sit on the f@ck knows train to a company with not much of an idea?
thoughts please...

Go. Fuck a job.

3 month package? Go, go, go.

why would you leave without another job? especially in this economic climate?
get another job first, then take your 3-month package and blow it on hookers and coke

Go. Even in this climate, your job sounds unstable. I've seen it before, when the ship starts sinking it's rare that it rights itself again.

I took the Voluntary Redundancy route, and am swinging in to my second month without work, no interviews in the diary, and 150+ applications per job I go for.
Stay where you are and wait it out.
Unless you have a ton of freelance work lined up - or can get hold of some.

Hahaha, go, GO GO GO. If you know its going down and you can take three months pay now, then do it. I guarantee you in three month's time the package wont be available any more and you'll be out on your arse.
Happened to me in my last full time job. I sniffed a demise, wangled a pay-out via a contractual niggle to do with what I was promised, and within two months the company (200 people in the UK and many others worlwide) was gone... nobody else got a bean, just turfed out with nothing. Never felt luckier in my life.

HMM a good mate of mine, brilliant designer, got back from travelling 3 months ago and has had only a few days freelance work so far. this is in london btw.. so i'd be tempted to tell you to take the money and run but its an unstable market atmn

got some freelance now on the side as well... there is nothing being done work wise here... just sitting on the asss couch.
- minsukito0

I'm in the same boat but my package is 10 months + bonuses at a reduced tax rate. I'm taking it. I am slowly getting put out of a job but outsourcing anyway. Time to find a decent creative job.

yeh im feeling very uninspired myself with this job. f@@@@@KK!

I'm sorry about your situation, but share the sentiment with the majority here. If you're sensing this company going down, you want out regardless, and there's a package on the table now - then go for it. Take your 90 days to get focused and sharp. It is a tremendous advantage over people being forced to finding something right away (meaning people being laid off without any compensation).

personally Im staying still for a few months. If I was offered a package, I would go back to freelancing. So take the package and I'm sure you'll find a job in a month.

hmmm. yeh its seems like people are still fishing in digital/ux. still feel anxious about it all...

you can get redundancy tax free up to 30k or you used to be able to.
