I need to create a database, the easiest solution seems to be MIcrosoft Access since this company is uses .NET. Is MS Access a lame solution? It will not be huge, but could expand (the data)? I'm new to this. DOes anyone know?

my only concern with Access is that it may use a different form of SQL than mssql does, making it hard to transfer later.
If it is a pretty small table or something, i am sure it wouldnt be hard to convert it to mssql later, and then import your data as XML or something.I cant think of a better solution than access if you have to access to sql manager.
- If you use an access layer through .NET, such as OBDC, which has providers for both Access and MSSQL, you'll be finejasonistaken

ok I think you are saying it is ok as long as it can move to mssql in the future. Well I am not sure, but I think it does. I will look more into that thanks!

Access is about the only good thing microsoft makes.

if you ever need to make it public-facing on a website or your data needs grow beyond the amount access can handle, there's a tool included in access that will migrate all of your data to mssql.

access is nice because it is 'portable' and you can always import data into sql server or mysql or whatever - or just download the .mdb and move it to another server, or to your machine to test locally.
it has some weird quirks though. for instance, it has a 2gb limit. inserts/deletes/updates will fail if you physically have a table open. it's slower than most other databases.
