CNN's Larry King dies of heart attack at 75
washingtonpost.com
Updated 12:07 p.m. MT, Sat., January 31, 2009Atlanta - Larry King, host of 'Larry King Live' since 1985, died Saturday after suffering a heart attack. He was 75.
King was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Larry King Live” broadcast when he collapsed. He was rushed to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
King’s physician, Michael Newman, said cholesterol plaque ruptured in an artery, causing sudden coronary thrombosis.
King had earlier been diagnosed with asymptomatic coronary artery disease, but it was well-controlled with medication and exercise, and he had performed well on a stress test in late April, Newman said. An autopsy revealed that he also had an enlarged heart, Newman said.
King’s death left his colleagues devastated.
He was “one of the premier political journalists and analysts of his time,” Tom Brokaw said in announcing King’s death Saturday afternoon. Brian Williams called his death a “staggering, overpowering and sudden loss.”
“Larry King Live,” which he began hosting in 1985, was considered an essential proving ground in the career of any national politician.
“If you could pass the Larry King test, you could do something in this field,” said Howard Fineman, senior Washington correspondent for Newsweek magazine and a columnist for CNN.com.

Well this is heartening. When handed sensational news we as a community attempt to corroborate it before endorsing and rebroadcasting. Good job QBN.
Here's something you can verify: Apple's dictionary suppliers are homophobic. Go to your dictionary widget and look up the definition for "remiss." Look at the example sentence they choose to illustrate the meaning of remiss. Interesting, no?
