Get her the Non-Designers Handbook or whatever that book is called, that should give her the core enema she needs. As for type....it's not fast, but there's always the Elements of Cockograhic Styles. Tell her to start looking at design magazines, print, idn, cmyk, yada yada.

We have a new designer here who has a somewhat appalling understanding of this core design principle. I'm looking to find some good resources for her to help her improve her skills/understanding.
Any suggestions as far as books/websites go that aren't too complex? Just need to cover the basics for now.
We're weeding out all the terrible fonts on her mac so that she can't play with comic sans and the like :P
