I haven't been listening to much hip-hop for about eight years or so but I'm curious to know who's producing hot shit in New York now. Some of the shit I was really influenced by back in the day is Big L, A.G., Juggaknots, DJ Bobbito, Sir Menalik, Nas, Ultramagnetic MCs, Dj Premier/Gang Starr, Jeru the Damaja, Company Flow, Brand Nubian, Beatnuts, Boot Camp Clik, Public Enemy, etc.
So who's holding it down today? New York only.

El-P is still releasing, Cannibal Ox, Pete Rock's NY Instrumentals from last year was phat, will post more if I think of them...
PS. nice list. out of that list, I'd love to see new shit from Big L, Premier, Jeru, Company Flow & Beatnuts.
- Big L has been dead for about 10 years, I doubt you'll be hearing any new shit thereimavery

I don't think we will be hearing anything new from Big L though....
This is the last Premiere track I heard a couple months ago:
Man I miss Hip Hop like this. There's just way too much garbage out there these days. I still have all my records (60 crates worth), so I
can go back in time whenever I feel like!- nas- "by the time you could afford it, the car aint important"

I think Jean Grae [formerly What? What? and part Natural Resource] has put out like 3 albums in the past 4 years, but I'm same as you, haven't been following hip hop much the last few years..
It's all gone Stones Throw, and I kinda lost interest...

All these modern hip hop 'artists' have completely ruined hip hop, they seem to have forgotten what it was about in the first place.
Hip hop is dead, and I have no clue where gangstarr are from.
