Does anyone notice that in the job postings there are increasingly more post that want a person who is a Senior AD, Developer and Flasher with AS 2/3 , PV3D and broadcast AE skills.
I mean seriously... Do they really think there are people like that out there.
- skt0
there are. expensive though.

They usually lack in a area tho, such as design. I know a few. I would rather hire 3 different people or freelancers that are very good in their skill set than one who can do it all.

yeah ... have noticed it.
they want a lot for a little

I've known a couple with skill sets at that level, and who are genuinely good at all of them. They make a lot, a lot of money.

Master's degree in design... thoughts people who's gone to a reputable school and can speak about masters degrees here?

It's possible to be proficient at all these things AND be a good designer, folks...
... shut up and get off the forum and start learning... :)

- I guess some of us just prefer to have a life outside of the computersilentseven
- jack off all trades, master of batingMilan

I think the key here is that people who are really great in multiple areas get paid a lot, while many of the job listings you see out there requesting such skills want to pay you like a fucking janitor.

Hahah, this is my job (add iPhone application development)... I'm looking for another though, in Belfast, in Ireland... There's some smart kids around even in this shithole.
Up yr game people.

Good way to scare people off, less sifting through crap. I doubt they need all those skill sets.
- So they're looking for confident liars then?TheBlueOne

I am learning as fast as I can :)

Ya i'm not arguing that there are not people like that out there it just seems that on the odd chance that I look thru the job listings. The position requirements just compound the skill sets. If you start at the bottom and work up each post adds another skill.

If they pay extremely well...I say bring it on. However, Senior AD, I would hope it is a knowledge they want and not necessarily be AD and coding everything yourself.

haha reminds me of that craigslist job I posted a week or so ago.
http://www.qbn.com/topics/577997…This is really getting irritating to see an increase in the number of these type of job posts. They will learn quickly what happens when you hire a jack-of-all-trades type person...you end up with more of a jack off.
- shit sorry didn't mean to jack your thread.silentseven
- don't be....glad to see someone else see's the same BS.designbot

So with this kind of thinking a, Surgeon should know every type of surgery from plastic to brain, a Lawyer every sector of Law, a Pilot everything that flies, an engineer everything from civil to software etc...
Just cause we can use a computer doesn't mean we have to know how every piece of software works...

the sad part is these are becoming the majority of job listings i see. they want someone to do everything and pay peanuts for it.
guess they are trying to consolidate all positions into one.... good fucking luck i say.
- ukit0
Well it is not quite like that...I would say knowing AS2 and AS3 is not quite as hard as learning to fly a helicopter vs a plane or something. It's not exactly rocket science...but then again rocket scientists probably earn more than we do:0

they are out there and they are that good. i've gotten a chance to work with a couple of them. though they are a rare breed... anybody who says that there aren't people that balanced / talented in both development and design has not been and / or seen some of the upper level talent in various agencies first hand. for example, one specific person is a creative director at a digital agency that happened to win agency of the year. he used to be a lead developer there.
